What is it?

Uterine cancer (also called endometrial cancer) is a cancer of the womb. The name endometrial cancer arises from the fact that the most common form of womb cancer – accounting for more than 9 out of 10 cases – arises in the inner lining of the womb, the endometrium.
Womb cancers may also develop in the muscular wall of the womb (myometrial cancers), or in other parts of the womb, but these each account for fewer than 1 in 100 cases.






How is uterine cancer treated?

The treatment of uterine cancer may include surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Your doctors will discuss the different options with you, to help you make the right choice for you.

Chemotherapy may be offered to women who are at high risk of uterine cancer returning after surgery, or to women with advanced disease. A number of drugs may be used, either individually or in combination. The most commonly used drugs are:

·         paclitaxel.
